Day 1 - Friday, October 2 - Arrival Day! Bem-vinda a Portugal!

Welcome to Lisbon! A picturesque setting where old trams take you from the narrow-cobbled streets up to the excellent new hotels in broad boulevards, with fabulous shopping opportunities and fantastic nightlife. You will be met planeside and escorted through immigration to baggage, and to your waiting luxury vehicle. After settling in to our 5* hotel, we will be treated to a private walking food tour with a local to awaken our tastebuds for our travels! We visit some of the most traditional cafes, bars and boutiques in Lisbon.

Day 2 - Saturday, October 3 - Lisbon to Évora
We continue our guided exploration of Lisbon this morning, with a special focus on São Vicente, Ladra & the Azulejo Museum, before making our way to Alentejo this afternoon. First, we visit the Church and Monastery of São Vicente de Fora, followed by Feira da Ladra - Lisbon's most iconic Flea Market. In the afternoon, we spend time at the National Museum of Azulejo. From here, we head out of Lisbon and into the rustic Alentejo heartland, to the whitewashed college town of Évora, with big Roman, Moorish, and Portuguese history encircled by its medieval wall.

Day 3 - Sunday, October 4 - Hey, Clay!

Today is all about amphorae- the clay vessels traditionally used in the ancient world to hold wine. We pop into the Clay Museum in Redondo, and then stop by the workshop of the Master Potter to try out the potter’s wheel and learn how to shape the clay. We will head up to the castle, for an unforgettable wine tasting, snacking on some regional delicacies served in clay dishes. 

Day 4 - Monday, October 5 - Market tour & cooking class, with Évora walking tour

Today we are treated to a very special cooking class, in a local home! First, we learn about the local market, meeting friendly vendors, and then head to the chef’s home for a hands-on cooking class where we prepare our lunch. This afternoon, our guide helps us explore on foot the medieval city of Évora, a UNESCO World Heritage City. We visit the church of St. Francis and its Chapel of the Bones, the millennium-old Roman Temple and visit the interior of the 13th-century cathedral, and the wonderful 16th-century university, once a prestigious Jesuit college.

Day 5 - Tuesday, October 6 - Alentejo to the Duoro River Valley

Today we make our way towards the Duoro Valley, stopping for an incredible walking tour along the way- charming Tomar, the former seat of the Order of the Knights Templar, culminating in a visit to the Convent of Christ. Our private guide will highlight the surrounding streets which are lined with traditional shops, including the oldest café where the delights of the local pastries can be appreciated: almond and squash queijadas (cheesecakes) and the traditional Fatias de Tomar (Tomar slices) made with just egg yolks and cooked in a bain-marie in a very special pot, invented by a local tinsmith in the mid-20th century.
Day 6- Wednesday, October 7 - A Nature Ramble & Lunch on a Boat!

It’s time for some fresh air and communing with nature! This morning we stretch our legs with a light, easy, guided hike in the rolling hills of the heart of the Duoro Valley. Magnificent views ahead! After working up an appetite, we luxuriate on a private river cruise with lunch and wine tasting on board! Sailing on the Douro River is one of the most beautiful experiences when visiting the region. We pass through the main Quintas of the Douro Wine Region, many stories will be shared by our experienced skipper.

Day 7 - Thursday, October 8 - Vintage Cars & Gourmet lunch

Our day begins with the roar of engines as we are whisked away in beautifully restored vintage cars, exploring scenic routes that unveil the valley’s dramatic vineyards, terraced hills, and charming riverside villages! We will be treated to a gourmet lunch at a historic property, enjoying a selection of gourmet dishes inspired by the region's culinary heritage. Each course is carefully crafted using the freshest, locally sourced ingredients, perfectly paired with wines from the estate’s own vineyards. This afternoon, we head to Porto to our 19th-century manor house overlooking the Atlantic ocean, which is the sort of place where oysters and champagne are encouraged…at breakfast. Stepping out of the hotel and crossing the leafy boulevard takes you to the sandy beach and lull of the ocean, where you’ll find the neighborhood of Foz dancing to its own relaxed beach-side beat.
Day 8 - Friday, October 9 - Charming Porto

Charming Porto, situated on the slopes of the Douro River, is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Porto is the second largest city of Portugal, with superb views over the river and the world-famous Port Wine Cellars on the opposite bank, in Vila Nova de Gaia. This morning, we will explore the city with a guided walking tour! This evening, we raise our glasses in a traditional celebration, grateful for an incredible holiday together!

Day 9 - Saturday, October 10 - Departure Day - "Adeus!"

Enjoy one last breakfast with a view, as we say goodbye before we transfer you to the Porto airport. “Até a próxima” - until next time!
